We are thrilled to congratulate THREE Region F students as recipients of the John Mack Scholarship!
The John Mack Scholarship is an annual financial opportunity for Alpha Phi Omega members pursuing a college degree. The scholarship is awarded to students who exhibit leadership in extracurricular activities to benefit those in need and/or charitable and/or humanitarian organizations.
The Region F scholarship recipients are:
Ellie Courtemanche, Alpha Beta Gamma, Knox College
Brennon L. Cavanagh, Sigma Sigma, University of Illinois Chicago
Maria Picazo, Sigma Sigma, University of Illinois Chicago
Be sure to congratulate them when you see them next – in person or online!
Are YOU interested in a scholarship of up to $2,500? Applications open in the spring semester, and all eligible brothers—including alumni in graduate programs—are encouraged to apply.
How do you apply? Watch the APO website and social media for the announcement of when applications are open! Then complete your application, get a letter of recommendation, and submit it all online. Criteria used in considering recipients are:
- Being a member of Alpha Phi Omega and having been initiated prior to July 2022
- Enrolled at a college/university for the upcoming school year
- Pursuing classes leading to a college or university degree
- Exhibiting volunteerism and unselfish service to others
- Exhibiting significant participation and leadership in extracurricular activities to benefit individuals in need and/or charitable and/or humanitarian organizations
- Have submitted a John Mack Scholarship application with a statement of purpose of education and career plans
- Have submitted a letter of recommendation from a chapter advisor or another volunteer leader (ask for this one early!)
Recipients are awarded funding toward their educational expenses at their current college or university. So if you could use a little boost toward paying tuition and fees and anything else that goes directly to your school, keep an eye out for the next round of applications in the spring!
